Effluent is generated from Cheesemaking and whey processing. The uprated effluent plant can handle crude effluent loadings of 6,720 kgCOD/day and volumes of 1,800 m3/day. Final effluent standards 25:25 (BOD:TSS).

Screens, divert and balancing tanks, high rate filters, anoxic tanks, high rate activated sludge (1,650 m3), low rate activated sludge (3,000m3), associated settlement tanks, sand filters, computer-aided plant control & monitoring system.

Outline Of Project
msa input included all process, civil engineering & mechanical design for this extension to the existing treatment plant. Capital costs were minimised by the use of series operation of existing aeration tanks, and a "value engineering" review of the competitive tenders received. Full technical assistance was provided throughout the course of the project including provision of a process operation and troubleshooting manual and, on-site operator training.
