Job Description

We currently have a vacancy for a Full-Time (permanent) Graduate Engineer to assist with our ongoing wastewater treatment related assignments and projects in the UK and overseas.

Our team is at the forefront of many key wastewater projects across the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will be able to deliver solutions that prioritise innovation and sustainability whilst working with leading household name brands and consumer products. You will be given early exposure to wastewater treatment plant design and operation working closely with our clients.

The selected candidate shall be educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline (chemical, mechanical, environmental or process engineering) and be capable of assisting with the preparation of technical reports and design specifications for key clients, from initial concept through to design and formal presentations to our clients.

The ideal candidate will have some experience (≥ 6 months) working in an industrial setting and will have the ability to, after coaching and development, be capable of leading design project(s), in time.

Some experience in the water/wastewater or food and drink industry would be advantageous, but not essential.

You will be based in our Trowbridge office and work on assignments for our UK and overseas clients. There will be a requirement to visit our clients’ sites across the UK (accompanied) and this may involve overnight stays. In time, there may be an opportunity to undertake overseas visits (accompanied) for key project work etc.

The target start date for the successful candidate will be early August 2025, but there may be some flexibility for the right candidate.

 


 

Responsibilities:

The role shall cover the following key responsibilities:

  • supporting with client site visits/meetings
  • detailed data analysis and construction of mass balances
  • assisting with the preparation of technical reports and design specifications (including plant sizing, control philosophies and commissioning plans etc.)
  • assisting with project tender management
  • supporting with feasibility studies including technical and commercial analysis
  • supporting with engineering drawings including P&IDs, layouts (2D & 3D)
  • detailed technical report writing based on data analysis and onsite auditing
  • onsite troubleshooting and assessment of existing wastewater treatment plants
  • data driven gap analysis
  • supporting design workshops and HAZOP studies
  • laboratory work including wastewater microscopy analysis, effluent quality testing and jar testing
  • onsite water and wastage optimisations audits
  • liaison with water and environmental authorities on behalf of clients (e.g. regulatory support/permits)
  • some office administrative support

 

Here’s what we will need from you:

The candidate shall have the following:

  • be educated to degree level of at least 2:1 in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, process, environmental or chemical engineering)
  • a dynamic and driven individual keen to establish a career in the environmental sector
  • able to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • English language proficiency of C1 (Common European Framework Reference (CEFR))
  • excellent numeracy skills
  • be a completer/finisher of all assigned tasks
  • ability to work well in a team and demonstrate good interpersonal skills
  • basic ability in AutoCAD, but intermediate/advanced ability would be advantageous
  • ability to solve problems, complete assigned tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines
  • some experience with treatment systems/process design including equipment selection, pumping system and pipeline design would be advantageous
  • a good understanding of fluid mechanics and hydraulic design
  • able to produce clear written reports/documents in a prompt timeframe
  • some project management experience would be advantageous
  • be comfortable during technical discussions and formal presentations with our clients
  • fully IT literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
  • proficient in Excel and using spreadsheets (VBA experience is advantageous, but not essential)
  • eligible to work in the United Kingdom
  • full UK driving licence (desirable)
