Trewithen Dairy is owned and run by the Clarke family, who have owned Greymare Farm in the Glynn Valley since 1976, and started crafting dairy products there in March 1994. In 2001, the family moved from farming over to full processing whereby milk is sourced from within 25 miles and processed into a variety of dairy products including milk, cream, butter, and yoghurt.

Dairy Wastewater arising from site operations and domestic waste is discharged to the onsite Dairy Wastewater Treatment plant. With production expected to increase over the next few years, Trewithen Dairy were keen to explore the options available for increasing the current wastewater treatment plant’s capacity, with an overall throughput capacity of 300 m³/day required.

We were appointed to undertake an independent review of the Dairy Wastewater Treatment plant and provide an initial view on the options available. Following this review, Trewithen Dairy proceeded with the conversion of the existing Sequencing Batch Reactor system to a continuous activated sludge operation with external gravity settlement tank for solids separation.

We aided Trewithen by preparing the outline designs and tender specification package and completed a detailed commercial and technical review. We provided on-going project support through the installation and commissioning of the upgrade, including a detailed design review, final design sign off and detailed commissioning checks.

Trewithen continue to expand their site and continue to strengthen their relationship with MSA with further wastewater treatment upgrades.
