John Edgley

Process Engineer

John Edgley joined the team in early September 2020 as a Graduate Engineer.

With his previous experience in project engineering and an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Swansea, John is involved in detailed engineering and process design as well as providing expertise to clients in managing the day to day operations of wastewater treatment plants.

1. Why do you enjoy working for MSA?

“I really enjoy being a part of the close-knit team at MSA in a fun and dynamic working environment. Our work can be so varied from day-to-day which means that I am always learning. MSA has also offered the opportunities to see some amazing places and meet some great people who I hope to continue to work with.”

2. What got you into engineering?

“I have always been fascinated by the sciences and they were consistently my favourite subjects at school. I have an older sibling that pursued Engineering a few years ahead of me and being exposed to some of the course content really shaped my decision to pursue it myself.”

3. What is your favourite food/drink?

“Food: Sushi, Drink: Coffee… or maybe Lilt”

4. What is your favourite biscuit?

“Hobnob or Lotus Biscoff – Only a gladiator-style fight between them would settle the decision”

5. If you were an animal, which one would you be?

“Chimpanzee because there is a better chance of going to space. Also, choosing most other animals would mean giving up my thumbs which I’m not prepared to do”

6. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“I have always loved doing all kinds of sports, especially water sports. I would ideally like to start ticking off the extreme sports”

7. Where’s your favourite place in the world?

“Anywhere on the North Cornwall coastline. Very fond memories, amazing surf and some of my favourite beers – tough one to beat.”

8. If you could be really good at one skill what would it be?

“Learning languages. I really like to try to speak the native language of wherever I travel – and it could come in very handy in some project meetings”
